The largest fish and the most fish of the year are normally caught at the Fripp Island Memorial Day Kingfish Tournament. All fishermen are invited to the tournament held Saturday. There will also be a captain’s meeting and Lowcountry barbecue at 7 p.m. Friday.
The fishing starts Saturday at sunrise and weigh-ins start at 3 p.m. and close at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the first and second largest king mackerel, then the largest dolphin, wahoo, cobia and Spanish mackerel. The Fireworks Fishing Tournament will be July 11 and 12. The annual Fripp Island Kingfish Invitational will be Aug. 29 and 30. The second annual Owen Perry Memorial Inshore Tournament will be Nov. 7 and 8. A kids tournament will be Nov. 28.
